A large number of first-time voters -23 million 18-19 year old alone(and voters between 18-25 years constitute a fifth of the electorate according to Indian election commission, IEC).
Staggering figures aside, this election is mainly about the change-in leadership, in political discourse, and general attitudes and aspirations, this is what reflected in the renounce victory of bjp led NDA. But this victory, along with people's eager to change, reveals some profound cause.
Historically, (from 1947 to 2014) India has been a dominant economy that supply 30% of world's GDP in the year 1 A.D. as compared to 25% contributed by china. After 1947 we embarked upon socialist route, and with a dominating public sector , hopes were riding high.
A brief outline of 65 year is as follows:
1. We have been unable to break the zinx of poverty and our per capita income remains a lowly $1450.
2. Equitable growth has remained partially fulfilled.
3. large scale leakages and corruption undermine all govt. efforts.
4. population has surged and WAP has created a huge demand.
5. pockets of excellence exists in some sector only.
WAP demand ---> inflation ---> loose supply side --->no liberalization in factor market ---> no investment ---> coalition govt. inefficiency..... ...... ... .....(chain continues...!!)
It was assumed that empowerment through RTI (right to information) and RTE (right to education) will transform the scenario but 3 things went terribly wrong:
1. global recession 2008.
2. ineffective PM and remote controlled-govt.
3. Large scale corruption scandals.
The period from 2009-'13 was, hence, marked by policy paralysis. Almost all the economic indicator took a beating and the economy went in a tales pain.
Since inflation went out of control, RBI had to act tough. Desperate measures brought CAD down to 2% in 2013-'14 from a high of 4.8% in 2012-'13.
India, being a supply constrained economy(as opposed to US,Europe, and Japan),supposed to focus on breaking up coal India ltd. into several companies so that competitively production can be increased immediately. Ironically, we have the 5th largest reserve and we are the 3rd largest importer(such a pity, isn't it...??)
THE TASK FOR NARENDRA MODI NDA GOVT.-->
1. Create a positive sentiment by becoming visible govt.
2. The horrible deficit numbers need to be brought under immediate control.
3. The 3 things close to Mr. Modi's heart are:
a.) The 5-F formula
Farm--Fiber--Factory--Fashion--Foreign
b.) Solar power
c.) From PPP(public pvt. partnership) to PPPP(peoples public pvt. partnership)
4. Many right based scheme need to be rationalize.
5. The PMO must assume full power aided by the cabinet and fast acting bureaucracy.
Grow the mfg.-->GDP grows --> employment generation --> world class.
Thus it can be conferred that effective public services, speedy implementation of scheme must be the dictum and most important thing to be acted upon is the liberalisation of FACTOR MKT(land, labour, capital).
Enhancement from the very basics will surely act as a catalyst to remove almost all the obstacles in the way of growth and development. With best wishes let's India shine. ~
